Thanks to the generosity of dozens of supporters, the three Robuster teams (two alpine and one nordic) raised at least $3200.00 for Slopes for Hopes and all the donations haven’t been counted yet. The total event raised over $31,000 for cancer research. We had a lot of fun, especially since we were able to cut to the front of the line and avoid the crowds from Presidents’ Day and Alberta Family Day. The teams of 3 or 4 were all able to ski the height of Mt. Everest in the steadily falling snow. We did runs on Red, Paradise, Granite and made a stop for hot chocolate at the Klister Klub before heading back to the lodge for a beer and the prize draws. It was easy to locate Robusters on the hill, thanks to the trail of pink feathers from our increasingly bedraggled boas. Participants were: Robusters 1- Jan Micklethwaite, Denise and Maria Maier and Lori Beetstra; Robusters 2- Susan Sullivan, Deb LeRose, Kathryn Tremblay and Mary Muir; Robusters 3 - Colleen Jones, her friend Andrea, and Pat Bruce. |
