Every fall, the Kootenay Robusters Dragon Boat Team sells scenic calendars to provide funding for the oncology unit of the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital as well as to support their program of dragon boating for breast cancer survivors and associates. Trudi Toews, chief of staff at the hospital (and steersperson for the Robusters) accepts a cheque for $5000.00 from the group. To date the team has donated $30,000.00 to support cancer patients in the region.
