Robusters Say Goodbye to Kay Read

posted Oct 26, 2013, 5:34 PM by Robusters Website
Our treasured den mother Kay Read passed away on Oct. 16, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.  At the celebration of life, held in Salmo on Oct. 26, thirty Robusters gathered in full uniform to pay tribute to her.  She played a key role in supporting the Robusters through the thirteen years we have been paddling.  Joy Anderson and Trudi Toews spoke on behalf of the team and expressed our feelings eloquently.

Kay hosted the Robusters at her Christina Lake home, turning over a part of her basement for storage of PFDs, paddles, equipment of all kinds and allowing the team to install an electric lift for the dragon boat while filling her beach with a safety boat and various canoes. Her family supported her generosity and always made us feel welcome. Kay was our biggest fan, always proud of her"girls" - encouraging us all to do our best.
We will miss her.
