The Kootenay Robusters Dragon Boat team launched their thirteenth season last weekend after dusting off their dragon boat and paddling the calm waters of Christina Lake under the direction of steersperson and coach Trish Ostlund. The team, made up of breast cancer survivors and supporters from Rossland, Trail, Castlegar, Grand Forks and Christina Lake, is looking for new members and invites any interested women to come for a paddle. We train three times per week and carpool to Christina Lake from each of the communities mentioned above. Dragon boating is great exercise and raising awareness about breast cancer and supporting those who've experienced it is vitally important. For women who may not have taken part in a team sport since high school, this is your chance to come out, have fun and become part of something great. |
