The Kootenay Robusters Dragonboat Team took part in the Seniors' Games on August 18 and 19th, 2011. The waterfront park in the city of Nelson provided a great venue for the 14 teams registered for dragon boat racing - the fastest growing water sport in the world. The Robusters paddled well in three heats and earned a spot in the championship final for women's teams. The last race of the day was an exciting event for participants and spectators alike. The Robusters finished in second place to the Fortified Women of Fort Langley earning a silver medal.
The team is now preparing for their last festival of the season, to be held in Penticton September 9-11. | Race faces in place, the team lines up. |
