On Sunday, Sept. 13, the Kootenay Robusters gathered for their last event of the season. First, the team paddled to the centre of Christina Lake, for a moving carnation ceremony to remember Robusters who have passed away and to reaffirm their commitment to raising awareness of breast cancer and doing whatever possible fight the disease. After throwing their carnations into the water, team members past and present gathered to share stories over a delicious pot luck lunch. Finally, after a short trip to Schulli’s resort, the dragon boat was paddled onto its trailer to spend another winter tucked under it’s tarps. |
