On Friday, October 7^th the Castlegar Rebels’ Hockey team kicked off their 2016 Breast Cancer Awareness month by presenting a $1000 cheque for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation to Joy Andersen and the Castlegar members of the Kootenay Robusters.  This presentation was made by Mike Johnstone, President of the Castlegar Hockey Society. 

Every October the Kootenay Robusters have been invited to drop the ceremonial puck at the Castlegar Rebels’ home games, this year Janet Backstrom accompanied by Joy Andersen dropped the puck to start the first game of the 2016 Breast Cancer Awareness month.

 The Robusters not only have the honor of dropping the ceremonial puck they also feel very special when a player presents them with flowers on each occasion.
