On Saturday, April 27th, the Kootenay Robusters gathered at Christina Lake Resort for the first paddle of the season. The day began when Otter Louis unveiled her winter's project of refinishing the club's carbon fibre paddles - a huge undertaking that earned the undying gratitude of all her team mates. Then it was time to unwrap the dragon boat and slide it into the water.  The chilly temperatures and stiff wind only made the first outing more exhilarating and it was good to get the season underway.  The Robusters' first festival is in mid-June so every practice counts as they prepare for competition.
