Dotting the Dragon's Eye

posted Oct 29, 2017, 12:07 PM by Robusters Website
On Sunday, Sept. 16, 2017 the Robusters, family and friends gathered for a special ceremony following the ancient Chinese tradition that shows respect for the dragon and puts him in a good mood.

Gifts and offerings were laid out on a red cloth and then burnt as sacrifices to the dragon while His Holiness the Dalai Sent Shih of the Neo Chan Buddhist Temple  dotted the dragon's eyes, tongue and horns, assisted by Robuster president, Kathy Hanson. The boat's name was revealed then - Nan lao which means "forever young."

The Robusters finished the ceremony by boarding their new boat and charging the shore three times to symbolize the dragon blessing the audience.

The day ended with the annual Carnation Ceremony to remember team members being treated for breast cancer and those who are no longer with us.
