Christina Lake Homecoming 2017

On Saturday, July 8th, Christina Lake welcomed the world to their annual celebration at the south end of the lake.  Susan Sandner had organized a small group of Robusters to decorate the dragon boat for the event, which featured a "Parade of Lights" at dusk.  She then shuttled paddlers from the beach to the dragon boat and we all took part in a regular practice, trying hard not to dislodge the lights.  The practice ended at the public beach where members invited the public to take dragon boat rides and even paddle if they could do so.  By the time that was finished, it was dark enough to light up our dragon boat and head out to compete in the non-motorized division of the parade.  Finally we joined the end of the motorized boat parade and circled the area in front of the beach to the applause of the gathered crowd. It was a perfect night, with a full moon - and all those who participated enjoyed the experience tremendously.  In the morning, Susan and her trusty CL friends towed the dragon boat back up the lake to its usual home.  Many thanks to all who were involved in figuring out the logistics and helping us look so good on the water.
